Not sure I understand the bin/run-javasomething.besides.dustdevil reference. Could you clarify.

An actual file with a working example would be great if anyone has one.

I once was able to get it to work by using bin/run-java
something.besides.dustdevil
I could look up the specifics.  If not then i'd say use some java xml
rpc library to make it work like the python examples.
