[OpenDHT-Users] Problem for Implement OpenDHT in C

Dear Professor,
     I am a student and want to implement OpenDHT's function in C ,but I have some problems ,I really don't know where to get help ,so I write this letter.
     The question is,if a clinet send a get request to the dht-gateway ,but this dht-gateway don't have the infomation which the clinet requested. What will the dht-gateway do to find and retrive infomation for client ? 
     In my opinion ,the dht-geteway first will lookup the key and find which servers will have the information match the key ,then it will create connect to those servers and get infomation ,after that it will process the response from the other dht-servers,at last it will decide how to response to the client--may be select one usefull response to the client .
     Is my opinion right ? If it is wrong ,I am very appreciate for you to teach me how it works .
