To fake it out temporarily I just used a file based system (i.e. just
store your keys in a directory) and added a random 'latency' to each
request.  Doesn't really approximate openDHT, as it doesn't have
latency, weird queueing problems, etc., but it works to avoid using
openDHT.
The problems I saw were if I saved things on an NFS drive then it
wasn't too reliable, yet it might work.  Good luck
